Nagambie is a beautiful place for lovers of nature and the outdoors. There is a little of something for everyone here from the walker to the adrenaline junkie. Here are some of our top outdoor adventure picks in the region.

River Goulburn Adventours

The beauty of Nagambie and surrounds is wrapped up in the abundance of waterways. The Goulburn river, which swims right past Tahbilk, is the longest river in Victoria. It is a deep and ancient river which slowly meanders through the Australian bush providing habitat for many plant and animal species.

River Goulburn Adventours is the perfect place to start if you are interested in cruising the Goulburn by canoe. You can choose from a guided canoe safari or simply hire a canoe to enjoy the river at your leisure.

If you are looking for something a bit different in the great outdoors, this one is for you.

Strathbogie Scenic Adventure

Base yourself out of Nagambie and take a day trip to complete this beautiful adventure; taking you in a scenic loop only 48 minutes to the East of Nagambie. This is an enjoyable tour around the beautiful Strathbogie Ranges.

Tour route: Nagambie > Mt Wombat > Gooram Falls > Ruffy Produce Store > Ruffy Snow Gum Reserve > Nagambie.

Pack your car up for the day (pack a morning tea picnic) and drive directly East for the day into the Strathbogie Ranges stopping first at Mt Wombat. At the top you will get 360 degree views across the beautiful valley below. From here you will see The Waranga Basin and the Goulburn Weir (Nagambie).

Hop back in the car to Gooram Falls. This is an absolutely gem of a place to visit during summer or winter (just make sure you rug up in Winter!). This place is perfect for a picnic overlooking the rock pools and water cascading over the rocks. There are two picnic areas, one close to the top and one which is approximately 200m downstream.

Take a loop around then to Ruffy to visit the Ruffy Produce Store to enjoy a relaxed lunch, quality food and a warming coffee. After feeling revitalized get yourself ready for your last stop at the Ruffy Snow Gum Reserve. A 3km long track which starts at the Ruffy Recreation Reserve. You might even catch yourself a koala! Then back through to Nagambie for dinner maybe stopping in Longwood at the White Hart Hotel for a cleansing beverage!

Nagambie Sky Dive

Not many people would know we have an excellent sky diving center on our doorstep. The drop zone is not too far away from Tahbilk in fact. The Center was established seventeen years ago by Australian Champion Don Cross.

Don has achieved over 10,000 skydives in his career and when he isn’t jumping out of planes you’ll find him flying them. In 1999 he was awarded the Diploma of Excellence in Formation Skydiving from the Federal Aeronautique Internationale – the International Skydiving Federation. His 8-Way team still holds the Australian Record for the maximum number of formations scored, a record made at the World Championships in 1999.

The facility is professional, open all year round and sure to thrill those who love an adrenaline rush.
