It is getting closer and closer to that special time of year when we shout out to all the amazing mums out there. Write it in your diary, it is this month, Sunday 13 May 2018.
Mother’s Day is a long established day which is celebrated in most parts of the world since the beginning of the 20th century. A day to thank mum for everything she has done and does for us. Sometimes we can forget the value of those who take time out of their lives for unpaid reward to raise their children and it’s not always an easy journey so with this in mind – have you started to get the wheels in motion to say thank you to mum in a few weeks’ time?
If not we thought it might be opportune to give you a week’s notice to start planning your mother’s day gift idea. It would be no surprise we would say the best gift for mum is a bottle of wine. But what to pick might be a little harder. We’ve been observing the mums of Tahbilk lately and thought we could lend a helping hand to help you pick your ideal wine for her based on the styles of mums we come across!
‘Loves a drink with the girls’ mum
She is looking forward to those long and meaningful chats with the girls. Mum can get a bit out of control at her regular girls nights out. Full of raucous laughter and hilarity mum doesn’t hold back when she has the chance to let loose with the girls. She is a light hearted and fun just like the wine we would recommend for her; a Sauvignon Blanc or Sparkling Pinot Chardonnay.
‘Loves cooking for the family’ mum
She is a family gal and she wouldn’t miss out on making sure there is the weekly roast on the agenda. She may have put it aside for the moment waiting for the grand children to arrive on the scene but cooking for her family is a passion she can’t deny. As warm as this mum’s heart we would recommend Shiraz or Late Bottled Vintage Port to see her through on Mother’s Day.
‘Loves to travel’ mum
She is a seasoned traveller who enjoys her creature comforts while she’s on the go. Trying a new location for a holiday and enjoying the finer things in life sit well with her. Outsiders see her as having an adventurous soul with good taste and up to speed on the restaurant scene. We’d recommend something which suits her groovy style like a Pinot Noir or Riesling.
‘Occasional tipple’ mum
She enjoys a glass a wine on occasion, usually when friends or the family are over. When she does drink a glass of wine she knows what she likes and keeps her repertoire familiar. ‘You want to enjoy that glass when you get it!’ is her motto. She will only open a bottle if there is someone to share it with, so we recommend you share a bottle of Rose or Prosecco. It will suit this mum down to the ground.
Whoever your mum is we hope she has a fantastic day and with wine in hand you might be able to raise a glass to her in thanks.
