We feel very lucky to have some amazing producers surrounding the winery. Avenel meats is one of those special places you would be surprised to find here, but aren’t we glad they call this place home.

Located in Avenel, Victoria we source a lot of our meats from Scotty (the master butcher). A character and passionate man what we love about what he does is the high quality of his produce, sourcing only the best local, free range and grass fed animals. This butcher harks back to the good old days, no more supermarket shopping once you have a chance to pop in here.

On site Scotty (and his wife Neisha) complete a range of activities from smoking their own goods on site to stocking a range of local small goods. A quaint and cosy little outlet on the side of the road in the middle of Avenel everything you would expect in an artisan butcher.

You will find Avenel Meats is in most of the local venues in the region (and beyond) for its exceptional high quality. One of those venues is Bank St Wood Fired Pizza, open Friday (all day) and Weekends from 12pm. Just across the road. Here you will find a special Scotty’s pork pizza, delicious pizza and also a lovely place to go for lunch or dinner. A word of warning though – make sure you book!

We are very happy to have Scotty’s meat on our menu at Tahbilk Café and you will find he stocks some pretty lovely farmer produce.

One of those producers is McIvor Farm Foods from just across the way in Tooborac, Victoria.  

Delicious produce awards finalists in 2016 these guys do an exceptional job. Like us they are a multi-generational family farm, three generations in. It was in 2010 when they made the decision to create a free-range, ethical farming system for their pigs.

This beautiful family farm takes great pride in being able to bring nutritionally superior, chemical free and ethically raised pork to our plates. And they have a few awards to prove it:

Unfortunately you won’t find them at the Nagambie Farmer’s Market hosted at Tahbilk just yet but surely it is only a matter of time!
